Gorgeous Hydrangeas

Gum paste flowers

Saturday, February 23, 2008

12 noon to 4 p.m.

Tuition:  $150.00

A four hour day of creativity, enjoyment, and learning!

I have been growing gorgeous hydrangeas in my for years, so it comes as no surprise that when embarking upon creating them out of sugar I would do everything in my power to give them all of the beauty and realism found in nature.

I have become internationally famous for my exquisite sugar hydrangeas and during this four hour class you will learn my technique for hand sculpting this glorious blossom using what is known as the pulled flower technique.  Pulled flowers are sugar flowers that created entirely by hand.  I will also demonstrate my hand painting technique that will literally bring your blossoms to life!

Following the conclusion of our class at 4 p.m., we will enjoy an afternoon tea together as our wondrous conclusion to an extraordinary day!

A Day of Wine & Roses

Gum paste flowers

Saturday, April 5, 2008

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuition:  $175.00

Okay, this day is going to be a wonderful experience for anyone interested in learning about sugar art.  This day we will be creating a variety of sugar roses and leaves and you will learn everything from how to create my recipe for sugar paste (also known as gum paste), to how to work with sugar, how to create fabulous tea roses of different shapes and sizes as well as the  fully opened sugar rose.  The sugar rose leaves are essential to any sugar rose creation, so we will be learning about creating those as well.

So, where does the wine come in, you ask?  We will enjoy a variety of wines and cheeses following the conclusion of the course bringing our day to an absolutely glorious conclusion!

Lovely Lilacs

Gum paste flowers

Saturday, May 3, 2008

12 noon to 4 p.m.

Tuition:  $150.00

Tis the season of lilacs!  There is nothing that can compare to the large branching flowers of a French lilac.  Wild and yet still restrained, they are one of the most beautiful subjects imaginable for sugar art.

The lilacs use the pulled flower technique, meaning that the entire blossom is hand sculpted.  Each small blossom is hand made out  of gum paste and wired together to create a gorgeous, flowing flower cluster.  You will learn all that there is to know about making gum paste lilacs as well as the hand painting techniques that literally bring your lilacs to life!

Following the conclusion of our class at 4 p.m., we will enjoy an afternoon tea together as our wondrous conclusion to an extraordinary day!
